New TG92 club shows in september

Yes! Because we have so much fun playing together, and because we rehearsed so damn hard (would be a shame only doing 4 shows), The Gathering 1992 (a.k.a. TG92) will do a short club tour in The Netherlands this september:

15-09-2012 Simplon – Groningen

16-09-2012 Tivoli de Helling – Utrecht tickets here

23-09-2012 Patronaat (kleine zaal) – Haarlem tickets here

and of course we have 2 festivals this summer:

We will play together with The 11th hour (new band of former Gorefest drummer Ed Warby). So if you want to hear all those old doom classics ‘Always…’ songs, be sure to be there, before TG92 is going into deep frost winter sleep again! And yes, we will play all songs from ‘Always…’.

New album update

The waiting is almost done! We are currently finishing the recordings of our 10th studio album which will be released via our own Psychonaut Records. Title and release date will be announced asap.
But first we will release a new single end of May and put some nice exclusive pre-order packages on our webshop including the new born.
Lots of you already know we released a single one year ago, called ‘Heroes For Ghosts’, which will be on the album. For peeps who missed it or forgot how it sounded, here it is (again).

Finally they arrived at our webshop! The Gathering’s 5th and 6th studio albums -How to measure a planet- & -If_Then_Else- have been unavailable for vinyl for many years. Both albums are released by Svart Records and both come as a gatefold vinyl, on yellow (HTMAP, double vinyl) or red (ITE) 180 gram vinyl, both limited to 500 copies.

TG 92 benefit gig at Groene Engel-Oss

Another ‘The Gathering 1992′ gig! This time in the city where it all started, Oss. We will play saturday the 21st of april at the ‘Groene Engel’ with Karma to Burn, ZEUS and Gifter. Like our sold out W2 – Den Bosch gig (1st of april), this is a benefit evening, all profit goes to Marcel van de Vondervoort (drummer/producer of Astrosoniq a.o.). Click for more info here. New album in September

Dear all,

We are currently recording our new album, and as you probably know we are also rehearsing with the old ‘Always…’ line up because of our benefit gig with Acrostichon and Pentacle 1st of april.
As we have a lot of fun together we decided to play a couple of festivals this summer, with the old ‘Always…’ line up, starting with Dokk’em Open Air. More news asap.

The Gathering old ‘Always’ line up live!

Dear all!

Some exciting news! After years we (The Gathering) came in contact again, thanks to Facebook, with the nice people from Acrostichon (Corinne and Richard). Of course we talked a lot about the good old days, especially the ones we had at the Willem II concert hall in Den Bosch. There was a matinee gig every month (I think it was every last Sunday), and we saw some great bands such as Candlemass, Morbid Angel, Death, and of course we played there as well. Those days were so much fun. We had a great nostalgic trip talking about those days.

Soon we came to the conclusion we would love to do this again! As you might know our debut album ‘Always…’ is almost 20 years old (april 1992). I contacted all old school Gathering ‘Always…’ era members and everybody immediately liked the idea to do omething together. An old school Doom/Death party! Acrostichon released their debut album ‘Engraved in Black’ almost the same period, and our friends from Pentacle released their debut demo “Caressed by Both Sides” as well 20 years ago. Why not celebrate this?

So, grab your agenda: The Gathering, Acrostichon and Pentacle will play live together at the Willem II (now called W2) Sunday afternoon 1st of april (no joke!) 2012! Like 20 years ago, Acrostichon will be headlining, The Gathering and Pentacle will be support acts.
Last but definitely not least: All profit will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

News about the new record and new festival

Dear all,

Hope you are all fine and well! We are back from this rollercoaster called The South American Ghost Ride Tour. It was great. Thank you all for coming! As you probably know we had our problems with volcanoes, flights overbooked and cancellations, but the warm welcome in every country was overwhelming! Thanks!

We get a lot of mail from people who want to know when the new album will be out. Unfortunatly this will not happen this year. We’re still writing and recording, and trying not to finish things in a hurry. For sure the album will be out in 2012! Maybe we will release another free download, like we did with Heroes For Ghost. You can also enjoy the magnificent video Marcus Moonen made right here. We will keep you informed.

Something else: we have another festival date for you! TG will play at the Baroeg Open Air festival the 24th of september in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. More info here. It’s a free festival, so you can spend all your money drinking beer (or cola). We heard that lots of Dutch Almanaks say the weather will be splendid in september (a real indian summer), so no excuses. It will also be the last TG gig this year (though you never know what happens). We hope to see you all there (and/or of course in Helmond or Amersfoort, which we will rock a week earlier).

Norway

Our hearts, deepest sympathy and warm thoughts goes out to all the affected people in Norway after the horrible bombing and shooting in Oslo and Utøya. As you know Silje is Norwegian living in Norway, and it has shocked her as well as her fellow Norwegians to the bone. “We are following the news constantly with tears in our eyes. Nobody can describe in words how dreadful this is. This is Norways worst tragedy since 2.world war, and it is the the worst shooting massacre ever done in peace time anywhere in the world. Now it is time for afterthoughts”.

Porto Alegre cancelled due to volcano

Dear people,

Due to the Chilean vulcano eruption which is still going on we are stuck in Buenos Aires. There are no flights going to Porto Alegre, so we are not able to play the concert tonight. We feel very bad about it, but there’s unfortunately nothing we can do about this. We do hope we can fly to Sao Paolo tomorrow. We will keep you informed of course, and again, we feel extremely sad about this.
